Reiki is the Japanese word for Universal Life Force Energy:
Rei = Universal Transcendental Spirit, Essence, Supernatural Knowledge or Spiritual Consciousness - Consciousness which is all knowing
Ki = The vital life force energy which flows through all beings
Though it should be remembered that an exact translation is very difficult.
Reiki is non religious and can be accepted by anyone, it clears the whole energy system releasing toxins on all levels and so will readjust and rebalance the mind, body and spirit. For longstanding problems several sessions may be needed to restore equilibrum. Symptoms may not immediately be relieved as Reiki works on different levels to heal in whatever way is the greater good for the client.
Reiki is a gentle but powerful hands on technique which brings wholeness and restores natural balance to the body, also providing deep relaxation. It is possible to receive the healing in equal amount with hands above the body so touch is not essential if preferred.
Reiki is thought to have come from the ancient people of MU though modern Reiki was brought to us by Japanese founder Dr Mikao Usui. Words from Mikao Usui:
The secret art to inviting happiness, the miraculous medicine for all disease.
At least for today
Do not be angry
Do not worry
Work with diligence
Be kind to people
Every morning and evening join your hands in meditation and pray with your heart
State in your mind and chant with your mouth
For improvement of mind and body
Usui Reiki Ryoho
Seichem (pronounced say-keem) works in the same way as Reiki, but in addition hands may be working in the aura. It is said to be one of the healing arts practised in ancient Egypt.
